With well in excess of 100 Gbps capacity—up to 100 times that of conventional Ku-band satellites.


Scheduled for launch in mid-2012, the EchoStar® XVII satellite with JUPITER high-throughput technology from Hughes, will deliver over 100 Gbps capacity across North America.

Employing a multi-spot beam, bent-pipe architecture, this next-generation, Ka-band satellite will serve from 1.5 million to 2 million subscribers, further fueling the rapidly growing HughesNet service in North America. It will build on the success of the award-winning SPACEWAY 3 satellite system, which serves over 500,000 of the 620,000 HughesNet subscribers in North America(as of Q1/2012), making it the largest Ka-band network in the world.
